Hadau
Hadau
Hadau was a collaboration with Guto Puw Composer
An installation with a performative element for the National Eisteddfod of Wales 2009 in Bala.  We were commissioned to create work for the Arts Pavillion to cellobrate the Cerdd dant tradition ( welsh poetry set to music )
We then commitioned the poet Andrea Parry and the performance included Andrea Parry, Harpist Einir Wyn Hughes, and soprannon Ann Atkinson. The work had an element of song, acting and prose.
A written setting for Cerdd Dant created by Guto Puws Grandfather beacame the inspiration, along with Bala communit’sy input as they prepared for the National Eisteddfod.
One of W H Puw’s written settings created in the 50 ’s was on an openened large brown envelope. The envelope had come form a seed maufactorer to the farm seen by the printed stamp, the envelop openned out was seen as if the seeds were in side.
These particuler seeds were seen by us to be cultural seeds.
The Installation for the performance became a Floor drawing of a Garden made of welsh brown wools donated by local Farmers, it included peat pots that had the wooden seed sticks printed in gold. Slate that had the poetry.
A 16 min film was made to accompany the installation called EGINO ( germination ) footage in locations in Bala area as they practice their cerdd dant sining tradition during the dark winter months in preperation to the Eisteddfod.
Much of the film was located in Parc Bala. As the men in the party went towards the school door opening, they went towards the light and their image was reflected in the green house of the School house garden, hence the  tile EGINO.
The work went on tour to:
Rhuthun Crafft centre, Wales
Newport Sport Centre, Wales
Cywain centre Bala, Wales
Sain Ffagan , Natinal Museum of welsh life, Cardiff
